Mohan Krishna Dangol, a professional engineer, had a deep feeling for the advancement of Nepal Bhasha literature. His unique plays such as Manu Mhasiki, Nhugu Samaj addressed social issues and left a significant impact on the masses. A major part of his life was spent in government service, but after retirement he became active in social work, especially focusing on what could be done to uplift Nepal Bhasha literature. He not only wrote extensively, but also encouraged new writers in the field of Nepal Bhasha language. In appreciation of his contribution, the Prem Mohan Award was established in Nepal Sambat 1113 (2070 BS) on the inspiration of linguist Prem Bahadur Kasa. Through this he gave priority to plays and novels and established a prize for them every two years.
